The Swallow House is named for the legendary steamship The Swallow that would ferry passengers back and forth from NYC & Albany in the 1800's. There was fierce competition between these steamship companies as to who had the fastest boat. On the evening of April 7, 1845 the ship ran aground near Athens. Eventually, part of the Swallow was able to be salvaged, with the machinery taken out, and the wood sold to a local man who hauled it across the river and used it to construct his home in the village of Valatie, where it still stands today. 3 beds, 1.5 baths located on a quiet street in Valatie Village you can walk to everything; restaurants, shopping, library and even a new brewery! A private backyard with stone patio, combined with a front covered porch makes outdoor activities that much better! Way too many features to list here. Stunning! Call today for a private showing.
