16 Swart Street, Margaretville, NY 12455

Property Description

Who doesn't love a circa-1940 classic Catskills cottage? Especially when it sits on the sweetest corner lot in Margaretville, with a sunny, private backyard that is a true little gem--green, peaceful and framed by a lovely view toward Margaretville Mountain, complete with a classic clothesline just off the back porch. A detached one-car garage rounds things out. Step inside through the glass-enclosed front porch and discover the kind of details that make a small house memorable: wood floors, graceful arched openings, the original white enamel tub and a vintage kitchen that has managed to remain wonderfully and unabashedly itself. At 1,348 square feet, this three-bedroom, one-bath home feels just right--comfortable rather than oversized, with an easy flow between the living spaces. Awesome updates include a new furnace, new oil tank and new washer/dryer! There is work to do: the house needs a new roof and is located in the flood zone. But for someone who appreciates a tidy classic home, wants to be right in the village and can see the beauty in the details, this cozy cottage brings the vintage vibes and feels tailor-made for someone who prefers creativity over somebody else's renovation. Walk to town, sit on the porch and enjoy everything the area has to offer, with Belleayre, farm markets, Margaretville shops and restaurants all close by. Your affordable Catskills dream awaits.
